Uhhh, yeah, I’m done with “nightfevers,” who seems overly-excited about the words “turd brain.” It makes me glad that people like that are out there (wayy out there), and I’m here. The world, such as it is on the Interweb, is more–often than not– worse than strange.

  • TheLiesAreTrue says:

Agreed, and I’ll drink to that.

I don’t really like Dee Snyder because he thinks he’s the motherfucking shit. On “Heavy the Story of Metal” Dee says “I was the poster boy of metal.” I doubt that. There were plenty of more popular bands than Twisted Sister.

  • 229095 says:

Wow. Talk about delusions of (washed-up) grandeur, there, Dee.

  • WolfmanAWS says:

I don’t even much care for Zappa’s music, yet I have to give all of my respect to the man for standing up to the scum that is the PMRC. Dee Snider is respected as well, but he doesn’t come close to Zappa in the amount of respect I have for him.

This is classic footage – and in a sense semi kinda infamous. What Frank did here was defend artists – ALL artists! Pity that the USA society, in general, is so prudish compared to societies in central and western Europe. As we all know, Frank Zappa was more successful in Europe than in the USA. Perhaps because European societies recognized and respected Frank’s talents more so than the USA society did overall. This is shameful for a so-called “free” society that the USA portrays itself to be.

the equivalent of treating dandruff with decapitation.

    Brilliant stuff from Zappa.

  • heavymaskinen says:

This is NOT the “Porn Wars” audio. That track contains excerpts from the hearing as well as other things, put together in a most noticeable manner.
What appears to be a public broadcast from the hearing can in no way be copyrighted by the Zappa estate.

  • SIMPFANN says:

I read a transcript of this online recently and was fascinated by it, but I wasn’t sure whether any of it had actually been filmed or recorded. Do any segments of the hearing other than Zappa’s testimony exist?

  • 229095 says:

They do exist, though apparently only truncated parts are available.

  • SIMPFANN says:

Hmm…I may have to go to the Museum of Radio and Television in NYC and investigate!

  • 229095 says:

Awesome! Be sure to get me a mug or something at the Paley Center gift shop!!

  • SIMPFANN says:

LOL- I would if I knew your name, or where you lived, or anything about you at all. As it is, I think you’ll have to go there yourself if you want a mug. :-P

  • loosedloon says:

I think they play this at the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. I didnt watch it then but glad I could see it now. Thanks

  • Hardtack444 says:

What’s the matter with kids today There so much trouble let’s take that noise away Or that’s what Helms’ would say when he sees the kids aren’t acting the “right” way Helms looks at the music but that’s not the problem If a kid can’t handle a 2Live Crew song song It’s because society’s in the wrong Is the no solution They keep kids ina strong hold illusion “explicit lyric” to you maybe truth to me but it’s the the enemy of the world around me An old man is cussin’ and stompin’ at the way we live
