personally, i give this a 4/5. the quality was amazing but the machinamation needed a little improvement. WoW doesn’t have the best movement and attacking engines (like the gray dwarves going/floating down the stairs and the fights with the dragon and giant tank) so machinamators need to compensate for this by having different angles and more movement so it looks like you’re actually hitting the target instead of just swinging your weapon in mid-air or trying to take down a tank with swords.
but the first scene in lordaeron was the complete opposite of that. the animation was perfect, every block, every shot, and every strike looked real. that kind of animation needed to be contiued throughout the film.
Yes. But the beginning in Lordaeron was from wowmodel viewer. The other videos were from in-game battles. I think she was focusing more on tanking Algalon then making it look more realistic. The movie was good period, minus the few ‘unrealistic’ look. You can only do so much in a game that lets you do very little animation.
love the movie. makes the occasional hard mode farm less boring picturing the epicness that went on in here.
i didnt know about the wowmodel viewer thing. and also, u bring up a good point about the focus of the movie. until she says exactly what this movie was truly about, we’ll never quite know. but you’re right, you can only do so much with machinamation in WoW.

As soon as the undead siege began to play, I sat back, said ‘this is brilliant’, and favourited.
Very impressed.
The intro was created to help tie Arthas into the instance and to sneak in a little backstory for an upcoming project. The rest of the movie focuses on the in-game fights of the instance.
I personally dislike the limitations presented by machinima, in-game or out. Said project will not be held back by those limitations.
Since I’ll probably never see the inside of Ulduar, definitely going to favorite this for later. Very nice. =o
