Callie quit Seattle Grace when she was told she was not getting the attending position. Derek was offered to be the new Chief of medicine. He kept telling the board he needed time to think trying to give Richard time. When Richard met with the board they came up with Seattle Grace and Mercy West merging.

Not possible for him to be alive still. Callie went in to see if there was the birthmark shaped like Texas on his hand like George had and it was there. It was definitely him. So sad. I loved George.
