Lol i love his comment at 2:26, “if you can stand the humor in it, when you come out of the coal mines everybody’s black”
Great man with very great music, lets hope his songs never die off
I just became a WVirginian a few years ago, and absolutely love driving through this state. Coming from a different geographic culture, I so no difference between black and white WV’s they are culturally the same even if racially different. They are nice people Bill W comes across as nice and caring.
Bill Withers worked for an airport servicing airplane toilets before becoming a recording artist. He was also married to actress Denise Nicholas-Fc
Had no idea I was from the same state as the guy who wrote these songs! Another thing to brag about!
I grew up in this era. Haven’t thought about him in a long time. Loved the interview! Thank you for posting this.
Yeah you are right! and he is a thoughtful person aswell. I heard another interview with him. That made me see things in my life differently!
look at the interviewers twitchy nod
I’ve always known most of his better known hits but I had no idea there was such a rock of sense behind them, it does indeed make sense
one amazing song-writer
WHAT A GREAT “PSYCHY”
I love Mr. Bill Withers: His spirit, his soul, and especially his Intellect…..
Im old school not real old school in my mid 40’s and been a faithful fan….For a long time and then you “DISAPPEARED”…
Sometime I know you have to do whatcha got to do…….To have “PEACE”…..Well done……And Amazing to my ear……Thank you……..I love me some Bill Withers….
its funny Anna Sale just nods in response 8:46 – 9:15 like as if to say. i cant believe im interviewing you right now this is nuts!!
thats so funny! lord knows i would’ve done the same. bill withers is a huge idol and inspiration of mine i can only imagine what it would be like to interview him
Thanks for posting..really great…
this is public broadcasting in the US… my goodness – Mr Withers comes across as very eloquent, but the interviewer hardly challenges him, the cutaways with her incessant nodding don’t really do her justice I hope….
such a wise peaceful wonderful man. love his music so much. hits me deep time after time.
Just awesome he is.
well… as far as I know – there is no health care system; only for ppl who can afford it….
well. I do live in Bozoland, According to your warped media. Where I am no decision on who to operate is based on whether you have a credit card or not. It’s called the NHS – it’s paid for by taxes and EVERYONE is entitled to it … but iif you’re poor in the US – basically you’re fucked…. just telling it like it is.
Awsome interview I WISH YOU WELL. Big Bill aka Lil Brother….
Hahah dude is silly (7:10)! Good to see he’s level headed and not some arrogant fool
.
Actually 7:07! Sorry I can’t edit my post!
the man is full of wisdom and so humble god bless him
7/28/75 dob
my dad used to say lil brother …RIpeace popz and peace to this other Bill
sorry pal not drinking any kool-aid. Just not influenced by any of the big corporations who would like to keep the national health service in the US as it is. Nor am I as convinced -as you clearly are- that an effective health service can operate without any government guidance. And btw I dont love any country -nationalism is a refuge of fear….
And btw Bob Novak did show a lot of courage in staying a democrat.
i want to hang with bill withers.
