However, he soon acquired a fascination for music and sound, and, by the age of four, had taught himself to play a large number of pieces on the piano, of some melodic and harmonic complexity (such as ‘Smoke Gets in your Eyes’). Almost inevitably, with no visual models to guide him, his …

So… Jehovah just thought it would be funny to give him autism and then forgot to give him the whole ’seeing’ thing?

If it wasn’t for the REAL people that saved his life, he would have died shortly after birth. In fact, according to this video, Jehovah tried to knock him off a few times!

What a zany guy that Jehovah is!

I haven’t listened to all these parts, but one of things that was frustrating to the audience was on the NOVA special Musical Minds where Derek was starting to play Tiger Rag a la Fats Waller and they kept stopping him. Instead of treating him as a Circus Act, I’m surprised at the ‘immaturity’ of all these supposed ’scientists’ who assume to know exactly what’s happening, but refuse to let him just use his talent unencumbered. My hat is off to his music teachers nurtured his technique.

  • nimmidiel says:

… It’s called “Pello Josepe” and it’s a Basque song… Shemer used to “compose” Israel national anthem, she admitted it in a letter, google it…
