Classical is the foundation of Blues, and if you think of it, every thing was designed off of blues. So had it not been for Classical, Rock, R&B, Country, even Pop would not even exist today! I myself listen to Neo Classical and Power Metal, but I strongly Desire for the beauty and wealth of Classical Peices. In fact I am a Pianist, the fact is that Classical helps me understand what Music really is.

Thomas Edison invented the first phonograph in 1877. That was the first time any one could make a recording of any other sound. Prior to this invention, the music was written down as sheet music for other orchestras to play.

Hey it’s the Mickey Mouse song from Fantasia.

  • nickpoulosinator672 says:

I don’t know if they recorded either. I think they just wrote it all down and orchestras later recorded it.

Thanks for your question. Recognizability, beauty, and hopefully excerpts that can flow smoothly one to the other.

The melody in the fourth is powerful, and you may be right, but I like the second movement more.

There is also a theory that Lady Greensleeves was in fact a prostitute. “to wear a green gown” meant that you had green stains on your dress, so apparently you had some fun, ‘playing’ in the grass

Just wondering…when you are choosing songs for the composers, do you go by the most recognizable, the ones that most epitomize their work, or what you think are their most spectacular?

It seems like you mainly include the most recognizable pieces. For Dvorak, however, I’m surprised you didn’t use the fourth movement from the New World symphony, instead of the second, as people seem to know the fourth better.

Not enough Elgar…especially “Nimrod” which is his best imo

…Although having said that these are more melodic uptempo pieces so understandable as Nimrod is much more drawn out. When you listen you realise why its so popular in war rememberance services or requested by families of someone close to them who has gone,

Very emotional.. but great celebration of life and all we hold dear.
